The Secrets of the Basque Cuisine and visit to the La Bretxa food market
The close relationship between our team of local guides and collaborators such as chefs, artisans and restaurants enables us to put together a diverse agenda of activities designed for you to experience the diversity of Basque cuisine.
On this unique food tour, the first thing you’ll do is visit the “La Bretxa” food market with our expert local chef and shop for the ingredients. Then, you’ll learn how to make typical Basque dishes, such as cod in pil pil sauce, squid in its own ink, fried or battered anchovies, clams in green sauce, cod or hake cheeks at a culinary society.
Gastronomic societies are reserved spaces where members meet, for either lunch or dinner, at a club set up with a kitchen. A few of the members do the cooking together and have fun sharing the table with other members and guests. This friendly atmosphere is about the nearest you’ll get to the most authentic traditions in Basque culture.
